BBC Liquor Store: The Big Bad City's 24/7 Filling Station

When the lights go out in the rest of the city, the neon sign here mercilessly blazes on. The BBC Liquor Store is the undisputed hub for quick, dirty supplies on the asphalt. No matter the time – this is where the Big Bad City keeps running.

Behind the grimy counter stands Micky. A washed-up ex-superhero who now uses his mutation for merciless multitasking in his minimum wage job. With one arm he takes payment, with the second he hands over the hard liquor, the third pours the city's strongest coffee, and the fourth rests preventively on the baseball bat under the till. Micky holds the neighborhood together. Here, paths cross: He supplies the escalated night owls on their way home, the homeless of the neighborhood, and the freezing streetwalkers after their shift.
